About CR Payday Advance

Independent, fact-first coverage of the short-term lending market.

CR Payday Advance exists to make short-term borrowing transparent before the application, not after the contract. We publish the legal limits, fees, statutes, and regulators for every state we cover, and every cost example on this site is computed from published state rules — never invented.

What we are: a free referral service connecting applicants with independent participating lenders. We are compensated by lenders, never by applicants. What we are not: a lender, a broker making credit decisions, or a guarantor of approval.

Editorial standards

  1. Facts from primary sources. Caps, fees, statutes, and regulator details come from state statutes and regulator publications, refreshed on a scheduled review cycle.
  2. Costs shown as math. Wherever we quote a loan cost, the page shows the calculation inputs.
  3. Named accountability. Every state page carries a named reviewer (see below).
  4. No approval promises. We reject “guaranteed approval” framing everywhere it appears, including in offers we choose to display.

Our reviewers

Dana Whitfield

Financial writer, lead editor

Dana has covered consumer credit since 2018, with a focus on small-dollar lending markets and state regulation. She maintains the state law tables on this site and verifies every cost example against the underlying statute before publication.

Marcus Bell

Reviewer, credit counseling background

Marcus spent nine years as a certified credit counselor helping households rebuild after short-term debt cycles. He reviews every state page for the questions a counselor would ask: total cost, rollover risk, and the alternatives worth trying first.
